So You Think to feature in Eclipse Stakes

So You Think will have a new rider as the Australian champion takes on 2010 English Derby winner Workforce in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown next Saturday.

Ryan Moore, who had previously ridden So You Think to second place in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, is contractually obliged to seat rival Workforce for the race, meaning Coolmore will be forced to find another jockey for the race this weekend.

The Aiden O’Brien-trained horse is around 11/10 with some bookmakers for the race whichs puts him out on his own as horse betting favourite, while Workforce is lagging just behind at around 7/4.

“We just have to sit down and figure out who will be the jockey with Ryan having to ride Workforce,'' said Coolmore's Australian racing manager, Tom Magnier.

'The trainer has been very happy with the horse [So You Think] since Ascot and he just has put the finishing touches to him this week. The plan was always Royal Ascot then the Eclipse and nothing has changed.'' He added.

Johnny Murtagh, who was drafted in at the last moment to ride Recital for the Investec Derby last month, is said to be in contention for a ride, while the man he replaced, Kieren Fallon, is also said to be in with a shout.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Khalid Abdullah who owns Workforce, told At The Races that he was confident in the horse’s abilities.

“We're happy with him and he's heading to Sandown. He put in a pretty smart performance in the Brigadier Gerard. He's got a good turn of foot, so I don't see why the trip should worry him.'' He commented.
